I watched this with Brian J. during a Friday the 13th marathon on cable TV. We used to look forward to horror movie marathons during particular times of the year (such as Halloween or a Friday the 13th). At least I looked forward to them. Not only did we not have cable at home, but I wasn't allowed to watch these kinds of movies. At Brian's house we sat up late in the living room on separate couches and snuggled in blankets and watched this movie and probably ate food. Nothing stands out about this installment in particular, except Jason Vorhees is actually the killer in this movie and not his mother (from the very first one). And he has not yet graduated to the universally known hockey mask yet, and is only using a white cloth over his head like a Klan member. Hmm.Recently I acquired the original VHS jacket-cover for this film. Now I sort of have a collection going of Friday the 13th VHS jacket covers. I so far have "Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan" and of course "Friday the 13th, the Final Chapter" which is my favorite in the series. There is something I like about these old VHS boxes. They are certainly a thing of the past. I always feel embarrassed buying these movies. Yesterday I was at Value Village of Hwy 99 in Tigard, Oregon looking for tacky Christmas wear for my company holiday party. Well, I couldn't find any xmas sweaters. Not one. Not even a bad one that I wouldn't wear. For there are bad ones I would wear as a joke and then even worse ones that I couldn't wear even if it was for a joke. Anyway, I found a nice little neck tie with the holiday theme running through it and happened to stroll by the VHS section and saw this movie on the shelf.
Now I have another box cover to add to my collection. My collection has no purpose or meaning.
